It wanders on its own, notices you, follows you around, circles and nudges your feet, keeps its distance when it's shy and sulks in a corner when you offend it. It bumps into things and has opinions about them, and it eats whatever it finds.
Talk to it and it comes over. Shout or clap and it jumps.
Tap 1 first so it can hear your voice.
Left stick: walk. Right stick: turn.
Trigger at the floor: toss a crumb. Trigger at the Roomba: boop it. Crouch and hold your hand over it to pet it.
A or X: call it. B or Y: clap.
The brass cartridges on the shelf by the bed are the season's episodes. Grab one with the trigger and push it into the console under the TV. BIG SCREEN throws it onto the wall behind you, across from the TV. BACK TO TV puts it back.
Unity Eagle, player 1, stands guard as a little voxel figure on the bookshelf next to the TV.
On the right wall by the beanbag, a little past the pink mirror, hangs Unity's PARALLEL UNIVERSE ACCESS badge. Click it, or point at it and pull the trigger, and it comes alive. Click again to stop it.
The red record player in the corner plays Unity telling the story of buying that single.
A little way along the same wall, a pink neon mirror holds the memory: Unity at nine, singing Xanadu into a hairbrush. It glows brighter while the record plays.
On the wall by the window, just past the nightstand with the lava lamp, a FIND ME ON poster says where to find Unity: @unityeagle on X and Instagram, and unityeagleai.com.
Above the bed hangs Unity's photo wall: her own black-and-white pictures from back then, the six kids on the sofa, the carnival prince at her hospital crib, the ping pong table and the old street, each in its own frame.
Leave the little zombie on the bed alone. Point at it and pull the trigger if you must. It won't do anything. Probably.
